The Text
📖 Proverbs 3:16-18, EXB
16 ·With [In] her right hand ·wisdom offers you a long life [are length of days], and ·with [in] her left hand ·she gives you [are] riches and honour.
17 ·Wisdom will make your life [Her paths are] pleasant and ·will bring you [her trails are] peace.
18 As a tree produces fruit, wisdom gives life to those who use it, and everyone who uses it will be happy.
📖 Proverbs 3:16-18, AMPC
16 Length of days is in her right hand, and in her left hand are riches and honour.
17 Her ways are highways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace.
18 She is a tree of life to those who lay hold on her; and happy (blessed, fortunate, to be envied) is everyone who holds her fast.
Some Thoughts
Wisdom leads to a fulfilling life. Solomon portrays wisdom as a guide who leads us to long life, prosperity, and honour—not just material wealth but a life of true significance.
Wisdom brings peace and joy. The pursuit of wisdom is not stressful or burdensome. Unlike worldly ambition, which often leads to anxiety and restlessness, wisdom’s paths are marked by peace and pleasantness.
Wisdom is the tree of life. Just as a tree provides nourishment and shade, wisdom sustains and enriches those who embrace it. Holding onto wisdom leads to lasting happiness and a flourishing life.
A Few Questions To Ponder
Take a moment to reflect on today’s passage:
Am I prioritising wisdom in my daily decisions or chasing transient success?
In what areas of my life do I need wisdom to bring more peace and joy?
How can I “hold fast” to wisdom more consistently?
You should consider these questions as you seek and chart your course to growing in wisdom.
Conclusion
The world offers many paths to success, but only wisdom brings long life, honour, peace, and true happiness. Solomon reminds us that wisdom is not just a tool for sound decision-making but a source of life itself.
Today’s challenge: Make wisdom your lifelong companion.
Invest time in God’s Word, seek His guidance in every decision, and embrace the peace and joy that come with walking in wisdom.
Yours faithfully,
John, a #DailyFollower.
