Dear #DailyFollower,
Introduction
It’s been seven long days since I last wrote to you. I’ve missed it, so I am sharing it with you from the Word.
The flu and a very stressed body tried to keep me away, but both ultimately failed, as God always wins. Thankfully, I’m back in health and energised!
Happy Thursday! The weekend is almost here, but before we get there, let’s pause and reflect on something we all seek—happiness.
We live in a world that constantly offers new definitions of happiness—success, wealth, status, or personal achievements. Yet, in today’s passage, Solomon redirects our attention to a different source of happiness: wisdom.
Suppose this is your first time reading the #DailyFollower newsletter, welcome! I’m grateful you’re here. Feel free to explore the previous letters in the Proverbs Series, where we uncover wisdom for living a fulfilling life.
Now, let’s get into today’s thought.
The Text
📖 Proverbs 3:13, EXB
13 ·Happy [Blessed] is the person who finds wisdom, the one who ·gets [gains] understanding.
📖 Proverbs 3:13, AMPC
13 Happy (blessed, fortunate, enviable) is the man who finds skilful and godly Wisdom, and the man who gets understanding [drawing it forth from God’s Word and life’s experiences]
Some Thoughts
Happiness is linked to wisdom. The world offers temporary happiness through material things, but true, lasting happiness comes from discovering and applying godly wisdom in our lives.
Wisdom leads to understanding. It’s not just about knowing what’s right; it’s about understanding how to live in alignment with God’s truth. When we do, we gain clarity, peace, and purpose.
Wisdom is found in God. Solomon reminds us that wisdom isn’t something we manufacture—it’s something we receive when we seek God through His Word and allow life’s experiences to refine us.
A Few Questions To Ponder
Take a moment to reflect on where you are in your pursuit of happiness. Consider these questions:
What do I believe will bring me true happiness?
Am I prioritising the pursuit of wisdom in my daily life?
How can I seek God’s wisdom more intentionally this week?
Let these questions guide your thoughts as you evaluate whether you build your life on temporary joy or lasting fulfilment.
Conclusion
Solomon teaches us that true happiness isn’t found in worldly success or temporary pleasures but in the pursuit of wisdom. When we seek godly wisdom, we gain understanding, live with purpose, and experience a joy that goes beyond circumstances.
Today, I challenge you to redefine your pursuit of happiness. Instead of chasing after things that fade, seek wisdom. Spend time in God’s Word, reflect on His truths, and ask Him to help you grow in understanding.
As Solomon tells us, the person who finds wisdom is truly blessed!
Yours faithfully,
John, a #DailyFollower.
