Now, let’s delve into today’s thought.
The Text
Proverbs 3:9-10, EXB
9 Honour the Lord with your wealth and the first fruits from all your crops.
10 Then your barns will be full, and your wine barrels will ·overflow [burst] with new wine.
Proverbs 3:9-10, AMPC
9 Honour the Lord with your capital and sufficiency [from righteous labours] and with the first fruits of all your income;
10 So shall your storage places be filled with plenty, and your vats shall be overflowing with new wine.
Some Thoughts
Solomon provides a profound insight into the relationship between our attitudes toward wealth and the blessings that flow from honouring God.
The call to "honour the Lord with your wealth" is not merely about giving; it’s about prioritising God in our financial decisions and recognising Him as the ultimate source of our resources.
When we give our "best part," whether it’s our time, talents, or treasures, we position ourselves to receive God’s abundant blessings. This principle reminds us that generosity and stewardship are key to experiencing fullness in life.
One Question To Ponder
How do I honour God with my resources?
Reflecting on this question can reveal areas where we must adjust our priorities. When we honour God, we open the door for His provision, which can lead to blessings that overflow in ways we might not expect.
Conclusion
Think about a time when you sacrificed or took a step of faith in honouring God with your resources. Did you notice the blessings that followed? God promises that when we prioritise Him, our "storage places will be filled with plenty." (Matthew 6:33, AMPC)
In a world that often encourages self-sufficiency, remember that true abundance comes from honouring God. As we navigate this week, let’s commit to honouring Him with our best, trusting He will provide in ways surpassing our expectations.
Yours faithfully,
John, a #DailyFollower.
