Dear #DailyFollower,
Introduction
I hope you’ve had a fantastic week. It was a busy Friday; I couldn’t write the newsletter for yesterday.
I hope you’re having a great start to the weekend.
We continue in our journey through Proverbs today with a thought from King Solomon on how to access divine direction, which is critical to walk the wise path to the good life.
Before I dive into it, let me say a big welcome to anyone reading their first #DailyFollower newsletter. Thanks for stopping by and spending some of your valuable time on this newsletter. If you have a few more minutes, check out my post on why I write these letters here and all of the letters from the Proverbs Series here - these letters share profound wisdom that sets us on paths that take us to the good life.
Now, I'll get into the thought for today.
The Text
Proverbs 3:5-6, EXB
5 Trust the Lord with all your heart, and don’t ·depend [rely] on your own understanding.
6 ·Remember the Lord [Know him] ·in all you do [on all your paths], and he will ·give you success [keep your roads straight].
Proverbs 3:5-6, AMPC
5 Lean on, trust in, and be confident in the Lord with all your heart and mind and do not rely on your own insight or understanding.
6 In all your ways, know, recognise, and acknowledge Him, and He will direct and make straight and plain your paths.
Some Thoughts
Building on the three key actions I shared in the last newsletter about three things the wise must do instead of relying on their own insight or understanding, Solomon guides us through these three things and defines the outcome to expect when we follow His guidance. He says:
‘Remember the Lord‘, i.e., know Him; the more time we invest into knowing God, the more our minds are tuned to remembering Him.
We need to remember Him ‘in ALL we do’, i.e., involve God in all the paths we intend to take in life.
When we do, Solomon assures us that God will keep us on the right paths that take us successfully to the good life.
One Question To Ponder
Do you remember God in all your ways?
You will walk the successful path to the good life if you do, i.e., remember God in all your ways. One of the wisest men who walked the earth said so, not me. When you don’t, you’ll go only as far as the limits of insights and understanding.
Conclusion
Do you know or can you control what happens when you’re asleep?
Think about that for a moment.
With all the significant advances in human advancement, there are limits to what we know, understand, and can do.
With all our advances, we can’t get the sun to rise, set, or determine how it does that.
Our insights and understanding are limited, so leaning on them is to be limited. Removing the limits is to remember the Lord in all our ways.
Simple, right?! So let’s do it more often.
Yours faithfully,
John, a #DailyFollower.
